May 7 – Geese

geese

Wildlife week at 365ed. Again, I’m really happy with the color on these last few shots.  I guess it helps that the sun is finally out, after hiding for weeks.

Now to work improving my  indoor shots.

This family was on Bluegill Pond. Most of the geese have moved on.  I saw less than 20 adults today, which is down from an official high in January of a bajillion or so.

May 6 – Squirrel

squirrel

Along the Riverbend Ponds trail, this squirrel was 10 feet away.

I’ve been futzing with the controls on the camera. The color really blew (blue?) me away when I transferred the picture to the computer.

May 5 – Pelican

pelican

After dropping the boys at school, I’ve been walking around the various ponds on Prospect St. There are pelicans, osprey that are nesting, egrets and a giant crane or heron. This pelican is paddling around Merganser Pond in Cottonwood Hollow. There were 6 or 7 egrets too, but they all flew away as soon as I turned on the camera.

April 28 – Foxes

fox2

As we were driving home from a walk in the park, this fox ran right in front of the car! We followed her into the neighborhood for a couple of streets, then thought she had gone into the open space.

Nope, here she is strolling up the sidewalk right toward us.

She crossed a major four lane road, then scooted under a fence. We found her a few blocks later, in front of a duplex. I tiptoed around the garage, to find her with her kits, tearing apart that rabbit.

She didn’t seem to mind me taking pictures. They kits lived in the hole under the concrete porch.

Mom kept going back and forth to the next duplex and coming back with birds.

We followed momma almost a mile through open spaces, yards and streets. It was quite a trip for one fox.

April 17 – Confused Worms

worms

I know you’re thinking “yuck!”.

These poor worms were confused. First it rained all day, then it was supposed to snow up to 20 inches. (It didn’t.)

You can see the worm “contrails” from where they were crawling around on the front porch.

Personal Commandments

See the big picture. (and get a shot of it!) Step up. Give back. Do something different. Make a lot of mistakes, but never the same ones twice. Be ridiculously happy. Action, not reaction. learn, laugh, love.

Haba na haba, hujaza kibaba.

Be the Change!
