June 3 – Spring Canyon Park

EmilyAnn

It has been raining for a week. I promised my nieces & nephew that we would go back to the park with the water if the sun came out.

It did, for 20 minutes. By the time I got everyone into swimsuits and at the park, the sky was gray again. And 60 degrees. Not that that bothers these kids.

After 20 minutes, there was one flash of lightening, directly overhead. We scrambled to the car, along with about 30 other cars full of families, stripped off wet suits and jumped in. 6 minutes later, as we were blocks from home, the sun peeked out again.

In Arizona, we always told visitors “It’s a dry heat”.

New home, new quote: “If you don’t like the weather in Colorado, wait 5 minutes”.

Cody’s Easter bucket included a wee, 3 inch b1-bomber kite which now permanently resides in a small tree in the backyard.

March 15 – Wipeout

We went skiing at Snowy Range in Wyoming!

Cole was coming down a blue run and had a major fall. He took to skiing quickly and really enjoyed the day. Cody took a while longer to get the feeling of the sport. More pictures on our flickr page.

Wade didn’t want his picture up, so I promised I’d make it smaller. We were laughing because the laptop is so small, it makes him look giant!

March 8 – Melting Pot

meltingpot

Last night, everyone was feeling healthy enough to celebrate Cole’s birthday. Of course, the only place he wanted to go was the Melting Pot for fondue. Luckily for us, Fort Collins has a special event every March called Great Plates. It’s a two week extravaganza of $18.68 meals at many downtown restaurants.

For this measly price, we ate:

  • Cheddar Cheese Fondue with unlimited apples, bread & veggies for dipping
  • Chopped Caesar Salad
  • Regular oil fondue, (couldn’t convince the kids to upgrade to Coq au Vin) with shrimp, teriyaki sirloin, chili marinated chicken, honey dijon hicken, Portobello Mumshrooms and pot stickers. This also came with potatoes, mushroom caps and broccoli.

This came with a sesame and tempura batters, which were a big hit. We ate everything, with an extra bowl of the veggies. Cody’s favorite was the tempura broccoli. Cole & I liked stuffing the mushroom caps then dipping them in tempura batter.

You can’t get out of this place without dessert, so we added a $16 Chocolate Fondue for Two, although it would have fed 6.

The food was good, dinner was cheap (for fondue), we found a new idea (tempura batter!) for the next time we fondue at home, so overall the night was a big success.

Well, except for the picture.

Personal Commandments

See the big picture. (and get a shot of it!) Step up. Give back. Do something different. Make a lot of mistakes, but never the same ones twice. Be ridiculously happy. Action, not reaction. learn, laugh, love.

Haba na haba, hujaza kibaba.

Be the Change!
